Before You Start

Access-provider requirements vary and can change. Confirm the current checklist first; commonly requested evidence can include:

  • Proof of Identity (PAN Card): Business PAN card.
  • Business evidence: Documents appropriate to the entity type, as requested by the selected portal.
  • Authorization: Evidence that the applicant is allowed to act for the entity.

How to Register on TRAI DLT Portal for Bulk SMS in India

1Principal Entity registration

Register the business or legal entity as a Principal Entity through an access provider DLT portal, following that provider's current identity and authorization requirements.

2Header registration

Request an approved header for commercial communication. The header format, category, supporting evidence, and approval remain subject to the access provider and current TRAI rules.

3Content-template registration

Register the fixed and variable structure of each intended message as a content template linked to the approved sender and header.

4Consent setup where applicable

Register the applicable consent-template structure and acquire recipient consent where the communication category and current rules require it.

5Delivery configuration and testing

Configure the provider workflow to transmit the required Principal Entity ID, header, and content-template ID, then test matching, opt-out handling, and failure reporting before launch.
